Project Co-ordinator - Information Commissioner's Office

Provide project input and support to the programme of activity of the Technology Department.

Technology is driving fundamental changes to our society, driven by the critical role personal data is playing in our digital lives. What role could you play in influencing the way we support innovation and technological change while also protecting privacy and information rights?

About us

As an independent body serving the public, the work of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is interesting and immensely rewarding. We uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals. In the last year we have been involved with prominent issues ranging from addressing the use of intrusive technology in our personal lives, to the privacy implications of the management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our work has never been so important or high profile.

The ICO’s technology group deals with some of the most complex privacy, data rights, data protection and emerging technology issues that society faces. The aim of the group is to make sure the ICO can assess and respond to these developments, and most importantly, to shape the future privacy, data and technology landscape.

We have vacancies for several positions across the directorate – roles that will help us shape how emerging technologies and information practices impact the lives of the UK public. For more information, please look at our recruitment website: hays.co.uk/jobs/ico

About the role

As Project Coordinator you will provide input and support to the programme of activity of the Technology Department. You will support the efficient co-ordination of projects by maintaining project plans, attending and supporting project governance meetings and tracking project activity throughout the project delivery cycle. You will also help to develop and implement management information and business intelligence solutions to enable the Technology Department to continue to monitor, direct and improve all aspects of operational performance.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in helping to deliver important programmes of work that will shape how emerging technologies and information practices impact the lives of the UK public.

About you

You will need well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to challenge and negotiate and to build and maintain good working relationships, up to and including senior management level. You may have participated in Project planning and management previously and are interested in using this experience more extensively. It is expected that you will possess the following skills/experience:

- Educated to degree level or Work experience at a level demonstrating graduate level ability.

- At least 2 years relevant work experience preferably in an operational service delivery or project-based role.

- Ability to rapidly assimilate and digest large volumes of information to analyse operational performance.

- Ability to work as part of a project team delivering projects to the required time, cost and quality standards.

The ICO is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in employment and we welcome applications from all members of the community.
